About Me

My name is Becky, I'm 29, and I'm from New York. I was born in November 1982, and I currently hold a BA in English. I'm a left-handed, non-smoker (non-drinker, too). I am also the kind of person who would rather be at home on the weekends burying my nose in a good book or watching a good movie instead of partying the night away at some random club. If you have an inkling that it might be me you're seeing at one of them, it's clearly and most obviously alt-Becky, who has miraculously managed to cross over from the red universe, and is undeniably a lot hipper and cooler than I could ever possibly hope to be. Tell her I said hi. ;)

So okay, here we go...onto the somewhat kinda boring stuff. :) I like writing, reading, web design, 80's & 90's movies (way too many to name, lol), seafood, science fiction, lots of different music, and keeping fit. I'm a big animal lover with 2 cats and 2 cute miniature schnauzers. I hate the cold a zillion times over, and although this may just be a hunch on my part, it could actually have something to do with the fact that I'm always freezing my butt off during the winter months. I love my hoodies! :)

A fair number of shows I have enjoyed over the years were wrongly canceled, but when you're pretty much resigned to the fact that you're a sci-fi geek at heart, I guess it's natural to come to expect that kind of disappointment after awhile. That said...favorite shows of past and present include Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The X-Files, Dark Angel, Fringe, Alias, Roswell, Castle, NCIS, Dawson's Creek, Golden Girls, Profiler, Two Guys and a Girl, and Life Unexpected. I liked both Charmed and Bones in the early days/seasons, but that is pretty much it. In terms of actors, I really enjoy the talent of Nathan Fillion, Julian McMahon, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Weatherly, Joshua Jackson, Seth Gabel, and David Duchovny. :)

And I'm sure it probably doesn't even need to be said, but I'm going to go ahead and say it anyway- Joss Whedon is a genius. I've been a Buffy fan from day one after discovering an ad for it in Tv Guide magazine, and remember secretly hoping it was going to be waaay better than the film version from 1992. I guess that kind of makes me somewhat of an old-timer, doesn't it? :D I followed Buffy right into the Angel spin-off, and I am still kicking myself for not discovering Firefly until late 2005 right before the fantastic Serenity hit theaters. I had seen a trailer for it when I went to see another film, and I also wanted to know more about the show that got Dark Angel canceled, lol- which just happened to be Firefly. Needless to say, my curiosity was completely worth it. So while I love all 3 Joss shows, I now consider Firefly to be my very favorite. There is just something extra special about having found such a rare gem. Yes, folks, it's really that good. So if you haven't already given it a try, what in the heck are you waiting for? :)

My favorite 80's film is The Breakfast Club. It has a great soundtrack, too. A friend of mine introduced it to me back in '97 (I honestly don't know how I managed to overlook it prior to that), and it's definitely another must-see.
